Vision 2004

Indian Orthodox Mercy Fellowship (IOMF), a charitable group functioning under the umbrella of the Indian Orthodox Maha Edavaka, Kuwait has been looking after the poor and downtrodden, by extending financial assistance for a variety of causes, since last 31 years of its existence. The Fellowship, though very small in size, having around 35 members only at any given time, was able to hand-out monetary assistance to the needy, to a sizeable sum of about 10 Million Indian Rupees (Rs. One Crore) during the past. We have always ensured that our help promptly reached the poorest of the poor enabling many of them to marry off their daughters, many more to have a roof over their heads, and a lot many more to have medical assistance in the form of much needed money at the most critical hour of their need.

IOMF was also very keen to assist brilliant but financially helpless students complete their studies making use of our generous grants. Many a helpless and forgotten individuals have found their livelihood through the self-employment schemes of the Fellowship. Now, after so many years of awareness about the needs of the poor, it has come to our notice that a staggering number of helpless elderly individuals, who are without any support are unable to see the light and carry on with daily life due to blindness mostly related to effects of Cataract. These persons are mostly forgotten by relatives or friends if any, due to financial helplessness. Our surveys have revealed that countless people who are out in the lower realms of our society, especially in the rural areas of Kerala need immediate attention and assistance. We cannot any longer watch and forget the sufferings of these poor souls who are in the latter years of their life.

IOMF has studied the matter in earnest in association with renowned Medical Practitioners and Health & Welfare Institutions, with a view to reach out and help as many individuals as possible. Some of the Institutions have been so generous so as to offer help in any way possible. They have proposed to carry out surgeries to fix Cataract at very favorable terms. We find the project extremely feasible and of immense help to many destitute individuals. IOMF has decided to take the project head on, as a challenge and as a novel concept in charity aid.

The Fellowship is aiming to conduct Eye Care Medical Camps for the poor in different locations in Kerala where free medicines will be dispensed and screening tests will be conducted to detect cases of Cataract. Deserving patients will be referred for Cataract Surgery free of cost. Our target is to reach out and bring in hope and rays of light into the eyes of as many as 200 poor souls. With this challenge at the forefront, we are requesting Patrons to sponsor cost of Eye Care Medical Camps or individual Cataract Operations. Sponsorship of a Medical Camp will be a contribution of KD.100/- whereas an individual Cataract Surgery will be KD.25/-.

We ensure that your contribution touches the blind eye of a destitute soul enabling him or her see the light, thanking and blessing you from the depth of the heart for a dream come true. Their tears of happiness will remain proof of your benevolence and care for the poor. Year long, IOMF will be conducting different functions to promote this Project and all our Patrons will be honored at these gatherings for their noble and benevolent involvement.
